Jamie radio appearance (mp3s, info), ‘Stylo (Carnivalization)’
Not much to report on the Gorillaz front but here’s some news from the last few days that fans might be interested in…
Jamie and Cass on Domino Radio
In only his second media appearance this year, Jamie took to the airwaves with Cass Browne (Gorillaz live drummer and writer) this week to play a selection of Horror-themed tunes. They were on Domino Radio, a one-week only ‘pop up’ radio station that is broadcasting over a limited area in London, and also online. They also took the time to explain a few Gorillaz Horror references.
You can listen to the 90-minute show again on the Domino Radio site here or download it as an mp3 here. You can read an (almost) complete tracklisting for the show by clicking ‘Read More‘ below.
Cass also has his own ‘solo’ show on Domino Radio which will be going out at 3:20am on Monday morning. We’ll get links up to a replay and mp3 here after it’s broadcast so you can check back for that if you’re interested.
Stylo (Carnivalization)
Thanks to whatsnextGorillaz and coletanm for bringing this one to our attention – the band Erland & The Carnival (who feature longtime Gorillaz collaborator Simon Tong on guitar) put out a remix of Stylo a whole year ago (via their official Soundcloud) which appears to use official remix parts. If you fancy a listen you can check it out or download the remix, titled ‘Stylo (Carnivalization)’ here.

Gorillaz Horror references mentioned in the show:-
– intro to Rock The House video has Noodle on a tricycle going round Kong like the boy in The Shining
– The Michael Jackson Thriller video, the dance by the undead inspired the Gorilla dance in the Clint Eastwood video
– intro to Demon Days uses Dark Earth from Dawn Of The Dead
– M1A1 uses Breakdown from Day Of The Dead, and the dialogue spoken over it directly from the film
– The Fog by John Carpenter (the film) influenced the fog Murdoc mentions in the PB Pirate Radio broadcasts, and the fact he’s broadcasting from PB, similar to some other events in the film which features a broadcast.
