Anonymous notes – 3rd November

DARE was played twice. This was because of, as far as I could see, SHaun Ryder’s awful performance. There is a line, between shambolically cool and just plain shambolic, and after threatening to do so the previous two nights, tonight he crossed it.Firstly the start of DARE was held up for ages/ There was visible panic from Damon onstage. Then finally Shaun and Rosie came on. But Shaun hardly sung anything, leaving Rosie to sing most of his parts, he was all over the place, just randomly shouting ‘it’s DARE’. Damon stormed off backstage halfway through probably to tell the A/V guy to run the DARE settings again. The song broke down at the end. Then they did it again, (shaun and rosie had gone off and came back), but Shaun was not really any better. At the end all Rosie could do was hug him in tears of laughter.

lol on the 2nd Shaun had come on with a bottle of what appeared to be beer and started shouting
‘eets daaaare’ and ‘eets cooming oop’ to which Rosie could only laugh and concentrate on singing. I recal Damon kept lookin at him in a ‘are you alright?’ manner. He wasn’t much better when I met him after the show.

i was also gettin up an daceing to dare an the people that were in charge started to wave at me sayin to sit down put i relly didnt care at all it was the best fing ever in the whole wide word, on the way bak in my hed it kept on sayin that was ace that was ace that was ace it was soooooooooooooooooooooo good

To be honest seeing them live opened my eyes to how good certain songs were, like “Last Living Souls”, which, when I first heard it on the record, didn’t seem to go anywhere, but live it’s really brought to life. And for those sitting in the gallery, “Shauny!!!!!” was one of the best crowd shout out’s I’ve heard in a while.

Very VERY good gig, I went with no idea what to expect and got blown away!! We took some decent pics and got some video footage of Damon after the gig when he was signing stuff. Also we met 2-J and chatted for a while about random Gorillaz related things. I was the only one to spot Shaun!! Kinda went like this:
*Everyone talking to Damon and Shaun sneaks out the other way…drunk, I spot him:*
Me: Whay!! Shaun!! *waving*
Shaun: …*stares*…*runs*
Me:…Bye then!!
Aaah, ’twas an amazing night, will add more comments and hopefully pics soon!!

The show last night was amazing! I was so impressed. However, due to my trains running 40 minutes late, I ended up being 20 minutes late for the performance, missing the intro, Kids with Guns and Last Living souls. So gutted about that!
