Released today on iTunes and available now (in the UK at least – problems with availability, let us know) is a new app from Korg and Gorillaz, ‘KORG iELECTRIBE Gorillaz Edition’. KORG ELECTRIBE, also (previously and currently) available in a general edition, is a virtual version of KORG’S ELECTRIBE: R device.

This new Gorillaz version not only features a Gorillaz designed and styled interface, but is also ‘customized to generate Gorillaz samples from their fourth album “The Fall”‘ and includes 128 new sounds created by Gorillaz and 64 ready-to-use pre-programmed patterns from Gorillaz, Stephen Sedgwick (Gorillaz’ engineer) and Korg.

UPDATE: A video tutorial by 2D has been added to the Gorillaz youtube. Check it out below.

UPDATE 20/04/11: there’s a second 2D tutorial on Youtube now, check it out here.

Musicradar has the full press release here and 2D is quoted as saying: “I was just trying things out with the iELECTRIBE…pushing the buttons up and down and humming over the top…I sat on my phone at one point and it started interfering…the signal started clicking…so I looped that up and made a rhythm…and then hummed over that…then did some clapping on it..and ..yeah …Uhmm, so…I..did it on an iPad using all the music apps. I might do another one in a bit…”
